Grants

Overview

The Lucius N. Littauer Foundation makes grants in the areas of education, social welfare, Jewish communal life and Judaica libraries and archives. Most of our grants are made to organizations in the New York Metropolitan area and in Israel. In addition, we are proud to continue to support various institutions in Mr. Littauer’s home town, Gloversville, NY.

Except in rare cases and longstanding commitments, the Foundation does not support religious activities and no longer provides subventions for the publication of monographs or exhibit catalogs.

The Foundation only makes grants to organizations with 501(c)(3) certification. Organizations based outside the United States must be affiliated with such an organization in order to receive support. We do not make grants to individuals.

How to apply

If you are a new grantee, please read our grants guidelines above and review the lists of grants from recent years to get an idea of the kinds of organizations and activities that we support. Please apply by going to our online application.    You will be asked to provide a description of your project and organization, a board list and budget, and you will be able to attach documents that tell us more about your organization and programs.  We also ask you to provide some information to help us categorize your grant and see how well it fits with our interests.  You  may save your work on the application and return to it before submitting.   There is no deadline for applying.  Grants are approved on a rolling basis.
